premium at the rate of 15 cents per Square Foot and Crown

Rent at the rate of $450 and $600 per acre in the case of

Marine and Inland Lots respectively. The reason for the

smaller Crown Rent in the case of Marine Lots was that these

were to be used for boat building yards while the Inland

Lots were intended for tenement houses yielding handsome

rental. The total amount due to the Government under this

scheme was $42,072 in premia and $3,447 per annum in Crown

Rents.

The Marine Lots coloured blue on

the enclosed tracing were immediately taken up,

but the

extended leases for the Inland Lots were not readily ac-

-cepted owing probably to the poverty of the original les-

-sees.

For various causes nothing further

was done by the Government in the matter until the year

1903 when it was found that most of the lots had changed

hands without record being made at the Land Office or

Treasury.

5.

The owners of the lots coloured

red on the tracing and of lots 965 and 971 coloured green

have now been found, and they are prepared to accept 75

years leases upon the above mentioned conditions. The lots
